About the event
Pre-Core Training offers an immersive introduction to the foundational principles and clinical skills of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). The learning environment emphasizes curiosity, participation, and acceptance of the anxiety that naturally accompanies learning something new.
Through didactic teaching, group discussion, psychotherapy video, and experiential skill-building exercises, participants will practice:
Establishing an effective therapeutic focus and working alliance during inquiry
Using the Triangles of Conflict and Persons
Identifying and addressing defenses moment to moment
Assessing anxiety and understanding its bodily pathways
